Prolific try-scorer Maya Stewart returns in Wallaroos squad for Scotland series
The Wallaroos have welcomed back star winger Maya Stewart for the upcoming home leg of the WXV Global series, where they’ll host Scotland over consecutive weekends.
Stewart has fully recovered from the Achilles injury that kept her out of the away leg of the series, and her return pushes Piper Flynn out of the 30-strong squad, while Hera-Barb Malcolm Heke joins the injury list with a knee complaint and Tia Hinds is marked unavailable on personal leave.
Scotland leapfrogged Australia in the world rankings for the first time in October of 2024, although the Wallaroos have maintained their perfect record in the rivalry, including a 30-10 win just two weeks ago.
“We’re looking forward to hosting Scotland on home soil and in front of our fans in gold next week as part of a quadruple header in Sydney,” Director of Women’s High Performance Tim Walsh said.
“During our recent tour of Europe, we had some success in aspects of our game but lacked the consistency for a performance to be really proud of.
“Having played and beaten Scotland recently, our understanding of each other has grown. We will need to be far better than we were in Edinburgh to achieve the outcome we desire.
“Maya Stewart returns for us and brings plenty of experience out wide.”
