Los Teros 7s confirm squad for World Championship opener in Hong Kong

Uruguay Men’s Sevens have confirmed the squad that will travel to Hong Kong for the first HSBC SVNS World Championship event.

Los Teros 7s were the fourth qualifier for World Championship events in Hong Kong, Valladolid and Bordeaux at the end of their three-tournament HSBC SVNS 2 campaign.

The side will be captained by 2024 Olympic Games skipper Diego Ardao. Tomás Etcheverry is the only other veteran of the Paris team that placed 11th at the Stade de France.

Los Teros have been names in Pool A at Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens alongside South Africa, Argentina and Spain.

Strong performances at the World Championship can qualify Germany, Kenya, Uruguay and the USA with a place on the HSBC SVNS Series for next season.

As I pointed out GM all are atm in the test 23 bar Beaudy but yup I do hear you on the Richie M aspect but even then with a game between test 1 and 2 who is sitting on bench for that and starting at 10 or 15 and covering from bench ?

atm as it sits has to be one of the test dudes or 2 ( for bench) or you play somebody out of position they have never played as far as I know other than Procter who used to play 15 at NPC a tad back in the day

He has just been to injury prone with limited places and time it’s risk to waste investment if that time and money on somebody who good chance might not play especially when it comes to a WC 33 places

Wouldn't be very clever imo to double down 10/15s with Jacombe or Harkin, when we’ve already got 3 potential 10s (who also cover 15, along with Jordie and Will and Moorby) and when we’re basically looking for an injury excuse there to bring Richie M in? Maybe they’ll factor that in and go for a 7/3 forward back split? So, Hotham, Big Jim and Rieko, with an extra loose forward, so both Semisi and Casey (and a hybrid 6/lock like Delaney instead of Hannah).

I don’t think you’re looking at the picture correctly. Are you accounting for all the missteps that took place, like Jordie missing his targets playing at center? Having Tupaea (and Jordie) playing some roles at 12 and some at 13 caused a lot of complexity (and resulting prblems) that I don’t think is present with Proctor.

If you look at it individually, I’d agree Tupaea played a better 12 role than Proctor played a center role. Yes, but I think Proctor is the only one capable of going where Rennie and the team needs a 13 to go to by RWC time.

lol - NZ have dave rennie! good enough for them but not Aus…? Make it make sense. SA has kiwi and irish assistants, england did well under jones, france’s defense coach is english and on and on it goes. Did ireland lack that spine when they beat NZ in a 3 test series away? a team consistently in the top 4 over the last 5 years… I’d argue theyre doing better than aus and several other teams on your list.

It’s a global game champ - get over it. You play the victim card more than gus garnder and yellows. Can’t wait to read your next conspiracy theory when les doesn’t get the wallabies to top spot in the first month and you start concocting your next tahs sook monologue. Who will it be this time? A NSW planted water boy? An RA physio with a bone to pick? Foley the secret kiwi agent picked at 10 to lose the bled?

The reason for that point is of course perspective how you move forward. It relates exactly to the example of SA last year, who pushed forward to succeed when a new attacking mindset that result in their best victory over the ABs ever. I think your right tho Fihaki does play 15 legit and yup played a lot of age group and bit of NPC at 13 and not sure about the exact minutes but they will want to cotton wool them to an extent and even with 3 midfielders in the 23 that still leaves 2 outside so yea it’s gotta be a 15/10 and that’s Harkin and he got form

They are overpowered in there own selection and style or overpowered by opposition you mean?

I’d say their problem is the same as NZs, they’ve had to follow us with their “ballers” putting on silly weight to keep up with Super, and this negatively effects say ‘non’ bully ball tactics. Great example his Lions series where they went from being “evenly” powered having just a 10kg advantage in the first test to a slight change in selection (just using starting pack weights from all rugby) to a whopping 60 bullyboy kg’s in the last.

Paisami is just too darn small for international rugby. You can see him getting bumped off and knocked around at international level and he is a questionable decision maker. Great player, tremendously courageous and tough.
