Leinster issue significant updates on Jack Conan and Ryan Baird

Injuries concerns around both Jack Conan and Ryan Baird has eased following Leinster’s emphatic Investec Champions Cup quarter-final win over Glasgow on Friday night.

The pair suffered knocks during the comprehensive 52-0 victory over the Scottish heavyweights, with the home side running in eight tries at the Aviva Stadium. Max Deegan opened the scoring and later sealed the rout, while James Lowe, Tommy O’Brien, Hugo Keenan, Garry Ringrose, and Dan Sheehan also dotted down. A penalty try added to Glasgow’s woes.

A Leinster statement this afternoon read: “Jack Conan: will be further assessed this week for a minor shoulder injury and a final decision will be made on his involvement later this week.

“Ryan Baird: will be further assessed this week for a minor calf injury and a final decision will be made on his involvement later this week.”

Head coach Leo Cullen also revealed that Rónan Kelleher emerged unscathed from his return, having overcome a neck injury.

Cullen added that Paddy McCarthy, Rob Russell, and Will Connors are stepping up their rehabilitation, while no further information is available on Jordan Larmour and James Ryan.

Leinster, who top the URC standings, now turn their attention to Saturday’s showdown with Ulster at 7.35pm at the Aviva Stadium.
