Jac Morgan spotted at training session with Gallagher PREM club

Wales flanker Jac Morgan has been spotted back in training just four months after suffering the shoulder dislocation that ended his Autumn Nations Series and cost him 11 matches of Ospreys’ season.

It’s been reported that Morgan, who will leave the region at the end of the campaign to join Gloucester in the Gallagher PREM, took part in a joint training session with Bristol Bears on Wednesday.

The Ospreys made the trip across the Severn to keep their sharpness ahead of next weekend’s URC meeting with Benetton, and Morgan was photographed participating fully in the hit-out; a significant step after a lengthy lay-off.

The British & Irish Lions back-rower was injured in the act of scoring during Wales’ 52–28 defeat to Argentina in November.

He left the field with his arm in a sling and was later ruled out for the rest of the autumn.

His return now raises the possibility he could feature again before signing off from the Ospreys.

At the time, head coach Steve Tandy lamented Morgan’s loss, calling him “a world-class player and a great man off the pitch” and have had to make do without one of their few world-class players this Guinness Six Nations.

Morgan’s reappearance in training, albeit in a controlled environment rather than a competitive fixture, will be welcomed by both the Ospreys and Gloucester, who invested heavily in securing his signature for next season.

His fitness trajectory will now be monitored closely as the URC enters its decisive stretch.

“He’s been around some of the games,” Wales head coach Steve Tandy said of Morgan, who has rallied behind his Welsh comrades. “But we knew he wasn’t going to be ready for this tournament and look, he’s in great spirits.

“He’s obviously behind the team, he’s been to the games and again, when he’s fit and ready, he’ll be back on the pitch.”
