Fiji player ratings: After an uninspiring performance against Wales, Fiji produced their worst performance in several years, as Senirusi Seruvakula’s side were trampled by England 73-8 at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Simione Kuruvoli’s red card summed up a bleak afternoon for Fiji, a side that looked a far cry from the vibrant, free-flowing outfit seen in the last five years.

1. Eroni Mawi – 4
Aside from winning a penalty, Eroni Mawi’s performance was in line with his team-mates’: riddled with errors and offering no positives whatsoever.

2. Tevita Ikanivere – 6
While the lineout didn’t misfire, the Fiji pack was easily outmanoeuvred and shut down by the English opposition. Made five successful tackle attempts, but in only two of those didn’t allow the opposing ball carrier to win the gainline. Scored Fiji’s first finish, carrying his body well over the line.

3. Mesake Doge – 4
The Fijian scrum was severely penalised, and Mesake Doge was on the receiving end, conceding three penalties in under 50 minutes.

4. Tevita Ratuva – 4
Earned a place in the starting line-up, pushing Temo Mayanavanua to the bench, but ultimately squandered the opportunity to make a stand. The Clermont lock knocked-on the ball twice, unable to find the right rhythm to gel with his team. Conceded two easy penalties that England capitalised on.

5. Isoa Nasilasila – 6
Made far fewer mistakes than his lock pairing but looked off pace in giving a good supporting line to his team-mates. Did his job well in the lineout and even managed to shut down what looked like an England driving maul try.

6. Peceli Yato – 6
Fiji’s inability to run with the ball ultimately left the likes of Peceli Yato (and Levani Botia) starving, who seemed eager to make an impact. Made more than a few powerful tackles, but they were never enough to fend off England from reaching the whitewash.

7. Lekima Tagitagivalu – 5
A troublesome afternoon for the openside flanker, conceding two penalties and several handling mistakes, looking a shell of the great player he has been for Pau. Failed to hit the correct jackal timing on multiple occasions, giving the officials little option but to penalise him.

8. Levani Botia – 4.5
Making his return to the team for the first time since the 2023 Rugby World Cup, Levani Botia was a shadow of his usual self. Beyond picking up a completely avoidable yellow card, the No.8 was easily caught by the opposition and failed to find the rhythm and flow needed to inject new life into Fiji’s attack. The main highlight was his three dominant tackles that echoed through the stands.

9. Simione Kuruvoli – 2
A red card proved to be the final nail in the coffin of a profoundly lacklustre outing for Simione Kuruvoli. Beyond deliberately stomping on Genge, the scrum-half committed three knock-ons and conceded a penalty. A day to forget.

10. Caleb Muntz – 5.5
Tried to steer his team into the right direction, but ill-discipline and a lack of cohesion ultimately proved too much to overcome, even for the brilliant Caleb Muntz. In Fiji’s few positive moments, the Provence playmaker was the catalyst, orchestrating attacks effectively and catching the English defence off guard.

11. Jiuta Wainiqolo – 5
With Fiji unable to string together more than two passes, it was simply impossible for the elusive Jiuta Wainiqolo to do anything meaningful. Carried six times but never found the space to impose himself, with a lack of support from his team-mates limiting his influence throughout.

12. Josua Tuisova – 5.5
When Josua Tuisova couldn’t deliver his bone-shattering carries, it mostly meant Fiji couldn’t put together their attack. The opposition controlled the Racing 92 operator well, as he barely touched the pill, wrapping up his performance with only three carries. Was outpaced on a few occasions by Henry Slade.

13. Kalaveti Ravouvou – 6
By several miles, the best member of the Fiji brigade at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. Scored a try that was scrubbed off due to Simione Kuruvoli’s poor decision to stomp Genge and ran several strong lines that gave England some work.

14. Vuate Karawalevu – 4
It looked like we were in for a lively afternoon from Vuate Karawalevu, given that the winger managed to break the line right at the start. However, like nearly all of his team-mates, he was unable to escape the ill-discipline and error-ridden nature of Fiji’s display, losing control of the ball on five occasions.

15. Salesi Rayasi – 3
Undoubtedly the worst performance by Salesi Rayasi in the last 14 months. Gifted Marcus Smith the opening try following a costly defensive miscalculation and endured a difficult afternoon thereafter. Was repeatedly exposed by England’s backline, struggling to plug the gaps in Fiji’s defence – Henry Pollock had no trouble evading the full-back, for example. To make matters worse, he failed to complete three potentially crucial passes, bringing promising attacks to an abrupt end.

Replacements – 5
On an afternoon that was a genuine and profound nightmare for Fiji, there was nothing the substitutes could do—or any way they could help—to alter the course of events.
