DvdM one of two Lions in from the cold as Scotland deal with injuries

British & Irish Lions duo Duhan van der Merwe and Blair Kinghorn will make their first appearances for Scotland this Guinness Six Nations against Wales in Cardiff on Saturday.

The pair will start in a new-look back-three named by Gregor Townsend from the one that ruled the airways against England in their 31-20 Calcutta Cup victory over England.

With Jamie Dobie out with a shoulder injury, Van der Merwe is an enforced change, while Kinghorn has replaced Tom Jordan, who has dropped to the bench. Adam Hastings has therefore dropped out of the squad to accommodate Jordan on the bench.

Injuries to Jamie Ritchie and Jack Dempsey mean Townsend has been forced into further changes in the back-row, with Gregor Brown shifting from the second-row to blindside flanker and Matt Fagerson starting at No.8. Max Williamson will pack down at lock this week, filling the space left by Brown.

The only unforced change in the pack will see Dave Cherry start at hooker this week, with George Turner joining the replacements.
