    Pierre Schoeman Bio

Pierre Schoeman was born in Nelspruit, South Africa on 7 May 1994. As a scholar at Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool in Pretoria, he represented the Blue Bulls at various youth tournaments, including the 2011 and 2012 Craven Week tournaments and the U19 Provincial Championships.

Pierre Schoeman then made his Blue Bulls debut during the 2014 Vodacom Cup competition. After appearing for both the Blue Bulls (2014-17) and the Bulls (2016-18), Pierre Schoeman announced that he was leaving South Africa and signing for Edinburgh ahead of the 2018-19 season.

Ever since arriving in Scotland, Pierre Schoeman has established himself as a force in the Pro14/United Rugby Championship. He’s now made more than 100 appearances for Edinburgh and he helped the team win the Scottish-Italian Shield in 2022.

Despite appearing for South Africa at U18 and U20 level, Pierre Schoeman ultimately decided to play international rugby for Scotland after qualifying on residency grounds. He scored a try on his debut for his adopted country and has never looked back, amassing almost 50 caps to date.

Thanks to his form for Edinburgh and Scotland, Pierre Schoeman was named in the British and Irish Lions squad for the team’s tour of Australia in 2025. Sadly though, he did not make an appearance in the test series.

Pierre Schoeman has many years of elite rugby ahead of him and we can’t wait to see what else he can achieve in the game.
