Springbok Women head coach Swys de Bruin has named a 30-player squad for the team’s two-Test series against the USA Women’s Eagles.

Both fixtures form part of doubleheaders with the Springbok Men’s Nations Championship fixtures against England and Scotland at Ellis Park [Saturday 4 July] and Loftus Versfeld [Saturday 11 July].

In total, 22 of the squad named by the 66-year-old were part of the squad that reached the quarter-final stage of Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025, where they were beaten by the six-time world champion New Zealand Black Ferns.

Eight players included by De Bruin were part of the successful Rugby Africa Women’s Cup campaign or enjoyed strong domestic seasons in the Pick n Pay Women’s Premier League.

De Bruin has also confirmed that the successor to Nolusindiso Booi as captain will be announced ahead of the first Test.

“This squad has not played together since last year’s Women’s Rugby World Cup, but once in camp, it did not take long for us to find that synergy we had last year,” Swys De Bruin, , South Africa’s head coach, said.

“The USA played in the Pacific Four Series against New Zealand, Australia and Canada, so we expect them to have some momentum coming into this historic series in South Africa, but for the last two weeks our focus was on ourselves. I am pleased to say we concluded this camp positive about the outcomes.”

Nadine Roos, Sinazo Mcatshulwa, Lindelwa Gwala, Aseza Hele, Donelle Snyders, Naima Hlatshwayo, and Chumisa Qawe were not included as they return from injury and go through return-to-play protocols.
