I worry about an incident like this affecting parents allowing their children to play rugby. EE’s (large) hand was clearly looking for a claw like grip on the face of a much smaller, younger opponent. The days when that was “just part of the game and we'll share a pint afterwards” are long gone. 12 weeks seems light punishment.

SA’s depth is so much greater than that of Wales that the difference in quality between SA A and Wales A is not as great as the difference between SA B and Wales B.

This is the difference of the Boks and the ABs (and perhaps AUS) with the other major rugby nations where international players have to pull a lot of energy into their clubs for most of the year even if they would like to spend more time and energy with their national teams.

When we look at this problem in perspective, bringing players from other countries has never being a solution, I rather say is the begining of a problem no matter what you can fix in the short term. My country, Argentina who now are going threw good results had to go threw a very difficult period in results a had to learn the hard way that took a long and difficult path to get here. I think some top rugby nations will have to have patience, go back to the basics and start again, is the long road but the safest.

It’s too early to tell where Ollie Lawrence is yet (after the injury).

He doesn’t look as big as he was before the injury and i’m not convinced he has the same acceleration (which was inevitable after that injury). He played really well in the Autumn series but he’s out with a hamstring strain, which was unfortunate as he would have trained hard in this period and its probably going to take a bit longer to full recovery.

It will be interesting to see if they leave him behind Earl coming off the bench at 8, or they want to give him longer game time by playing 6 to allow him to become a starter.

However, the current balance does work at the moment, so maybe they are happy with what they currently have.

If you only have 1 spot is it more critical/likely to cover 9 or 10? I think once you have the answer to that, the rest comes down to flexibility and how you can cover the various positions if you get an injury. Then it becomes the best trade off.

If Freeman is playing wing he can cover fullback & 13, which would allow Lawrence to cover 12 (with Freeman filling 13) and either Furbank or M Smith moving from fullback to 10.

You don’t want two novices competing for the same job when there are plenty of other more experienced options.

You may be wanrting to take a punt but I have Lawrence and Dingwall ahead of those two at 12. So I’d guess does SB.

This is the thing. It was obvious that both sides behaved poorly and this was the ruling. Tom Curry haters apparently believed that this was an unprovoked attack on an innocent man. Clearly pushing a coach is not acceptable but the panel just have found that Contepomi’s behaviour was put of line and lead to the escalation. The only way you could believe anything to the contrary is if you believe Curry is some kind of violent maniac - which apparently some people do.
