Welsh international duo re-sign with PWR champions Saracens

JAECOO Premiership Women’s Rugby champions Saracens have announced the retention of Wales internationals Georgia Evans and Donna Rose.

Evans joined the club in 2020 and has been a key performer for the team in recent years. Capable of playing in the second row or back row, the 29-year-old made her 50th Test appearance for Wales last weekend against the USA Women’s Eagles in Cardiff.

Last season, she made 17 PWR appearances for the North London club as they won the English league title for the first time since 2022.

Alex Austerberry, Director of Rugby, said: “Georgia is approaching 100 games for the club. This is testament to her quality as a player. Those appearances have come across the back five, which illustrates her versatility and ability to play in such abrasive and competitive positions at the highest level.

“Georgia is incredibly recognisable on the field, and that is for her style of play and the manner in which she plays, not just for the bow she wears. Busy at the breakdown, intense around the park and the ultimate competitor.

“I very much look forward to seeing ‘G’ grow and develop further as she drives her game and Saracens forward.”

Rose arrived at StoneX Stadium in 2019. She joined the English giants from Trojans Rugby Club, for whom she made more than 150 appearances, and worked as a carpenter before stepping into the English top flight.

Converted from the back row to prop forward by Austerberry and his staff, Rose made her Wales debut in 2021 and has since represented the country at two Women’s Rugby World Cups.

Austerberry said: “Donna is a very physical player who plays with incredible heart, passion and industry. Having joined Saracens in 2019, Donna has developed into an outstanding tighthead who contributes not only at set-piece time but also in the loose.

“Donna has a great presence on the pitch and is fantastic at supporting her teammates off the field. This is exemplified by her desire to work with and develop many of the young front-row forwards at the club.

“I am delighted that Donna has extended her time here at Saracens. I have no doubt that her contribution on and off the field will continue to have a significant impact.”
