Springboks full-back Willie le Roux explains change to 10 at Bulls

At the age of 35, Willie le Roux is proving he is one old dog who certainly can learn new tricks. For more than a decade, the man from the Western Cape has been one of the finest full-backs in the game, starring for the Springboks in two Rugby World Cup triumphs. But now he is adding another string to his bow, having switched to fly-half for the Vodacom Bulls.

After impressing during a 30-minute cameo in the role off the bench against the Emirates Lions last month, he has been handed the No10 jersey for the subsequent BKT URC games against the DHL Stormers, Hollywoodbets Sharks and Emirates Lions.

Now he has yet another big South African derby coming up this weekend as the third-placed Bulls host the DHL Stormers in a return clash at Pretoria’s Loftus Versfeld.

White explains selection and what he expects from Stormers

His coach Jake White has made it clear just what an important job Le Roux is doing with the control and experience he brings to the playmaking position. As for the man himself, he is relishing his new role while acknowledging it remains a work in progress.

“I still have to figure out the small adjustments, like calling the plays and getting back into the line on defence, but I am enjoying it,” he said. “You learn something new each week. I still need to get that balance right. At full-back, I had plenty more time to look for space.

“When I am at fly-half and calling the plays, changing the direction of the attack, one tends to look less at space and sometimes miss chances. I can work on that and maybe look up quicker to see who is in front of you defending.”

Looking ahead to Saturday’s meeting with the 10th-place Stormers, the Stellenbosch-born Test star added: “We know how desperate they will be and it will be a very tough game. We want to focus on what we can do and pitch up mentally.”

Le Roux, who spent time at fly-half early on in his career, claimed one of the Bulls’ five tries in last Saturday’s 31-19 bonus point victory over the Lions which has brought them within two points of second-place Glasgow.

Head coach White was quick to stress the vital role being played by the much-travelled veteran, who has had spells in England and Japan, as well as with the Boland Cavaliers, Cheetahs, Griquas and Sharks in his homeland.

“There is a lot of media talk about is he a 10,” he said. “It’s irrelevant what position he is the best at. For me and our group, I need him close and I need him to be controlling things. He will make mistakes because that is the kind of player he is. He is one of those kind of guys.

“At one point, we ran the ball and he threw a forward pass, but then you look at the pass he made for one of the tries we scored. As long as Willie is on the field, I just feel, especially with all the leaders that have been out, that we have got a sense of how we want to play.

“I probably erred the week before in the Sharks game, I took him off too early. I was too conservative. I should have probably left him on. He understands when to run it, when to kick it and that is what makes it so different for us. When he is on the field, there is a little bit more guidance from him to the other players.”

White added that Le Roux was key to the Bulls pulling clear against the Lions after they had been pegged back to 17-14 at the break. “The first 12 minutes was the best we have played in a long while against anybody. It looked at that point, 17-0 up, that it was going to be one-sided, but they scored two tries and got it to 17-14.

“We almost got them by the throat, but we just try and make it so difficult for ourselves. What I was really happy about is after having a chat at half-time, we tightened up everything again and I put that down to Willie. That is the importance of having him there.

“The Lions are a good team. When they start running at you, it’s difficult to defend against that. They are well coached, they are very fit. I was glad we could get on top of them because they are a difficult team to beat.”

Interesting, basically the same as Exeter this season. Slade is better at 13 but when you've got a side lacking leadership and losing every game, you gotta get a calm head in the 10 shirt.

'France may leave top players at home but will still be serious contenders in New Zealand'

The country turned septic on Foster for losing a series to what was arguably the best Irish side in history and one that may not have been ranked number one in the world when they arrived, but were by the time they left.

Imagine how feral the nation will be if Robertson’s All Blacks lose to what is supposedly going to be a French ‘B’ team?

This author proving he has less of an understanding of rugby than the general population.

The country was septic because of how easily they got beat Paul. The country is smart enough to rate the relative level of performances, and if Razors team goes backwards like Fosters the criticism you suggest might come will be fully deserved. If France B perform as good as France A and win by the same margins then those with the criticism the team should be winning every game will also be deserved. But the inference that the public didn’t give Ireland the credit they deserved couldn’t be further from the truth imo.

France have beaten the All Blacks on the last three occasions the two sides have met, and that the former has used 38 players in the process.

France could leave 40 players at home in July and still be a serious contender

And to the vibe of this article, it provides abosolutely zero reason to believe the next 38 best French are going to be as good as these first 38. Paul got one thing right, it’s no joke that France will be leaving behind 40 players.

France have a 45 man squad for 6N (well using Wiki), the team could be made up of these leftovers from the teams not likely to get close to Toulouse and Bordeaux, given that just the third place team is doing commendably well not to be in negative for and against like the rest.

One wouldn’t think Atonio is going to come (I’d be surprised if Fickou is still not rested or he and Le Garrec aren’t involved in a relegation playoff game) but a few good players there like Leo Barre, Le Garrec, Taofifénua, and that back row, but also a distinct lack of a spine with the 3 best playmakers playing in the Final at home.

What are the possibilities to fill out these missing spots? looking at Opta’s stats hub Serin and Couilloud provide good back up for Le Garrec by fact of having the highest try involvements in the Top14 (along with Michael Ruru). And Serin’s partner Herve looks the most threatening to carry on the teams style with his elusiveness?

HOW TO RETRIEVE STOEN BITCOIN DUNAMIS CYBER SOLUTION

I never imagined that I would be one of those individuals who would lose access to their Bitcoin wallet, but there I was looking at my computer screen in utter horror. I was a freelance graphic designer and had invested $250,000 in Bitcoin throughout the years, hoping that it would be the gateway to my financial future. I was proud of myself for being careful with my investments and online security. But one day after I updated my laptop, I realized I could not access my wallet. My password was gone, and in case that was not enough, my recovery phrase was nowhere to be found as well. My heart sank. I felt like my world was collapsing.

The thought of losing all my savings was simply unacceptable. I tried everything—backtracking, searching through old notes, and scavenging through my emails—but all in vain.

Desperation kicked in, and I started looking online for any kind of solution. That's when I came across DUNAMIS CYBER SOLUTION on Reddit. I was hesitant at first—how was it possible for anyone to recover something as secure as a Bitcoin wallet? Was this some internet scam? But after reading hundreds of positive reviews from individuals who were in the same predicament, I thought I would try.

Their staff was extremely professional and reassuring right from the time I called them. They heard me out patiently and explained the process of recovery step by step, in detail. They did not make any false promises but told me that they would do their best to recover my wallet. Their honesty and transparency filled me with hope.

The procedure was seamless and well-coordinated. The team was in touch constantly and kept me updated, which eased my worry. In a week's time, I got the message I had been fervently wishing for—they had retrieved my wallet successfully. All the Bitcoins were intact. I was filled with relief and thankfulness.

DUNAMIS CYBER SOLUTION were not just highly professional but also very humane and sympathetic. They understood the psychological toll such a disaster can take and handled my case with utmost sensitivity and professionalism. They saved my financial future, and I owe them eternal gratitude.

If you are ever unfortunate enough to lose access to your Bitcoin wallet, I would highly recommend DUNAMIS CYBER SOLUTION They turned what seemed like an impossible mission into a success story. I am eternally thankful for their services and the peace of mind they restored to my life.
