Bulls boosted their United Rugby Championship top-four credentials with a 31-19 bonus-point win over Lions at Loftus Versfeld.

Three tries in the opening 12 minutes from Canan Moodie, Willie le Roux and Sebastian de Klerk saw the Bulls race into a 17-0 lead, with Moodie and Marco van Staden adding further scores after the interval, David Kriel converting three of them.

Lions responded with tries from Henco van Wyk, PJ Botha and Richard Kriel, Gianni Lombard twice adding the extras, as they suffered a fifth defeat in six games.

It’s a little more specific than ‘fast-moving style’ tho OJ.

It’s abotu how quickly you can adapt to changing expectation and the chaos which ensues with a chnage of possession. The teams which are adjusting best to those scenarios right now are at the top of the tree..

Yeah they have good instincts, very rounded players though Ioane appeared to get cast quite badly in his move to center. Moorby is a prototypical white guy winger for sure though, along with recent examples like Smith and Dagg.

Well I had a good discussion with I think it was TwoCents about impact, and what impact actually means. I think that’s what were after but as the likes of Rassie and Wellington are showing us it doesn’t have to evolve around the simple aspect of fresher forwards, which I know is something you understand and what you’re saying.

You’ve mentioned it many times and I agree the likes of Ardie, Scooter, even Lakai as bench options options, have a pure, higher intensity impact threshold than other players. All three are quality starting options. They just have the knack for involving themselves in a game and reaching a state of mind where they can unleash, unrelentingly.

Tom Wright, without a doubt, is the most gutless defender in Australian rugby. Not just for the Wallabies, but anyone playing club rugby and above. I’m so sick of watching him soak up so much momentum in defence once contact is made.

Get him off and put one someone who is willing to put something into their tackles. Defensively, he is by far our biggest liability.

Fantastic piece, John. It’s rare that I have little extra to add but this is just one such occasion. You have said everything that needed to be said and your analysis as usual is spot on. When you look at things that way you can really see just how close they are to becoming a very dangerous side indeed.

Well so much can be said about Foster. We need to do something to make a difference in the last 25-35. Whether it’s 6-2 or building more hybrid players or something else - does not matter. But it is tiresome to yield the ground to the Boks. Ironically just watched the BOP

v Canterbury Shield challenge - great 80 minute rugby - should be bread and butter for ABs.
