Paris Olympian Corey Toole will represent the Australian Capital Territory in Super Rugby Pacific for another season, signing a one-year extension with the ACT Brumbies until the end of 2026.

Toole is enjoying another standout season with the Brumbies, with the winger currently ranked among the elite as the competition’s equal second-highest try scorer with nine. Despite not scoring against the Reds last weekend, Toole has scored seven tries in as many matches.

Coach Stephen Larkham has regularly named Toole in the starting lineup alongside Tom Wright and Andy Muirhead in the outside backs, with the Australian rugby sevens convert starting all of the Brumbies’ 13 matches in 2025.

With the British & Irish Lions Series just around the corner, Toole’s name has been mentioned by some fans as a potential bolter for the Wallabies squad. Toole played for Australia A against England A in 2024, having also played a couple of times for that side the year before.

But Toole has found a home at the Brumbies, with the flyer looking forward to another campaign with the team that has continued to set the standard for Australian sides in Super Rugby Pacific, currently sat on top of the ladder with two rounds left.

“I’m excited to continue my journey with the Brumbies for another season,” Toole said in a statement.

“I’m looking forward to developing my game even further with the help of the other players and coaching staff. I love being a part of the team here and hopefully, we can deliver success for our loyal fans in Canberra.”

After winning what is now called the HBSC SVNS Series with the Australian Sevens side in 2021/22, Toole joined the Brumbies. Toole has been consistent over recent seasons, including an especially eye-catching campaign in 2024.

Toole was recalled into the national sevens team for the Paris Olympic Games, before joining the Wallabies squad after returning to Australia’s shores. While Joe Schmidt didn’t hand Toole an international debut, the winger has continued to push for Test selection.

“Corey’s growth at the Brumbies since he joined us has been remarkable. Each season he goes from strength to strength, and he is showing just how good a player he is now this season,” Brumbies coach Larkham explained.

“Obviously, he is one of the quickest players in the game and every time he gets near the ball, everyone gets excited, but his defensive connection and effort has also stopped the opposition from scoring many tries this year. “He’s an important part of the team both on and off the field and we’re really happy that he will stay on with us.”

While the Brumbies are on a bye, this week’s Super Rugby Pacific fixtures are incredibly big in the contest of their season, especially the Chiefs versus Moana Pasifika in Hamilton. The Brumbies are first on the ladder with rounds left, but need the Chiefs to lose to start there.

The Crusaders will also leapfrog the Brumbies if they get the chocolates at home against the Highlanders, which sets up an enthralling clash in the final round. In just over one week, the Brumbies will host the Crusaders at Canberra’s GIO Stadium.

Potentially, that match could decide who finishes first on the ladder.
