LIVE: 2017/18 European Rugby Challenge Cup and Champions Cup pool draws

Former European Cup winners Ieuan Evans and Austin Healey make the draw for the 2017/18 Champions Cup competition at Hotel Beau-Rivage in Neuchatel, Switzerland.

The Champions Cup draw will follow the draw for the Challenge Cup, which is due to start at 13.00 UK & Irish time.

The mechanics of the Champions Cup draw are as follows:

CHAMPIONS CUP RANKINGS
For the purposes of creating the Tiers, the Premiership, PRO12 and TOP 14 clubs are ranked based on their league performances and on their performances in the knockout phases. For clubs which did not qualify for the knockout phases of their leagues, or which were eliminated at the same stage of the knockout phase, rankings are decided by league table finishing positions.

Very unfortunate for Stuart, but big opportunity for Heyes to prove he’s the starting 3 on merit.

I guess everyone will expect Fasogbon to be brought into the 6N, but Sela is now set for a good run of games for Bath and I wouldn’t be surprised if he leapfrogs Fasogbon.

I have no affiliation with any team in the European cup but I enjoy watching the games.

Having said that, the commentators on the Premier Sports feed I use to watch games here in Thailand were an embarrassment to themselves and the game. The unjustified bias in favour of the English team was palpable.

I get your argument, but I am not sure I agree. Plum played for the sharks for 10 years - probably beyond 80% of his fine playing career - and won the Currie Cup twice as a player.

He then won the Currie Cup 3 more times as a coach. More impressively, his first win as coach was in his first season in 2008, where he was appointed as a bit of a hail-mary, with the Sharks last winning the cup in Plum's own playing days way back in 1996. That's a long dry-spell. For the achievement, he won coach-of-the-year in SA. He does understand SA rugby's DNA, plus his international experience, which is only a benefit. He himself was a particularly abrasive player and great to watch.

Bath produce standout Champions Cup performance against Munster

That was very impressive from Bath, they were the best team by far and were simply fitter and stronger than Munster throughout.

It’s pretty clear that Munsters loss is Bath’s gain and this really showed what they missed by letting JvG go.
