Dagg missed the first two tests of the Rugby Championship due to a reoccurring knee injury but managed to line up for the All blacks last weekend in Yarrow Stadium.

However the injury resurfaced during the week and ruled him out of Saturdays test against South Africa, Hansen confirmed yesterday that the outlook wasn’t good.

“Sounds like there’s a bit of cartilage surface damage to the knee that just needs a bit of rest.

“Doc’s pretty confident if he gets the rest then he’ll be fine so probably means he’ll be out for the rest of the year.”

The full extent of the injury will not be known until later in the week when the Crusaders man undergoes a scan on the injured knee.

Hansen has also opted to take a reduced twenty eight man squad to Argentina for the penultimate test of the rugby Championship in two weeks time.
