In-form scrum-half Henry Robertson re-signs with Western Force

Henry Robertson crossed for two tries as the Western Force claimed a hard-fought 31-26 win over the Crusaders earlier this month. The 26-year-old has been one of the standouts for the Force this season, and the in-form scrum-half is now set to stay out west until 2028.

The Force have announced Australia A representative Robertson has re-signed with the club for another two seasons. Robertson is a former Australia U20 and NSW Waratahs halfback, who has made 17 appearances in Force colours since heading west.

Robertson debuted at Super Rugby level for the Waratahs on February 27, 2021, playing six games in cambridge blue before joining the Force. The No. 9 lined up for the Force in two matches during the 2024 campaign, before going to an all-new level last season.

After making two appearances off the pine, Robertson played alongside Ben Donaldson and Alex Harford during four consecutive starts. That led to Australia A honours against a Japan XV last October, scoring one try as a replacement in the 71-7 win.

Nathan Hastie was the first-choice scrum-half at the Force during the first few rounds of the 2026 Super Rugby Pacific season, before Robertson returned to the First XV to take on the Hurricanes in round five, going on to start in five consecutive appearances.

“We’re thrilled to see Robbo re-commit. It has been a tough road for him with injury, but he has shown real resilience to get back playing some of his best rugby,” coach Simon Cron said.

“He’s always been heavily engaged and involved in the team. He chases feedback on how to get better and often has the solution before you tell him. As you can see from the way he’s playing at the moment, he’s in great form.

“Retaining Robbo means we maintain key cohesive relationships in the spine of our side. He is a key leader on the field. You can hear it by his voice in the game.

“He’ll only get better from here on in. He played well for Australia A last year, so we’ll keep driving him and pushing him forward.”

Robertson linked up with Wallabies fly-half Donaldson in the halves during the tense eight-point defeat to the Hurricanes in Napier, but there were good signs from the pair in that contest, and from the Force as a collective.

Cron has retained Robertson in the run-on side for a clash with the high-flying Chiefs, the win over the Queensland Reds in Brisbane, and hard-fought contest with the Fijian Drua. But the Force’s last match before the bye was especially memorable.

Defending champions the Crusaders made the trip to Perth for a round 10 blockbuster, which the Force won 31-26 at HBF Park. Robertson scored one try on either side of the half-time break, as the Force claimed another statement result.

“I’m very excited to have re-signed with the Force,” Robertson explained.

“I’ve really enjoyed my footy this year, particularly over the past month or so, and to now have the security of knowing my future is here at the club is a great feeling and something I’m very happy about.

“I love life in the west. Perth is a beautiful spot.

“On the footy side of things, the Sea of Blue are some of the most loyal rugby supporters in the country and we love playing in front of them.

“We have a great group of blokes in our locker room at the moment and seeing the attitude in the boys approach each week, regardless of results is something I’m proud of and want to continue to take part in.

“We’ve given a few good teams a scare this year and I’m confident we’ve got more big results in us before the end of the season.”
