Harlequins tighthead prop Joe Jones will join Champ Rugby’s Worcester Warriors at the end of the season.

The 30-year-old moved to the Twickenham Stoop for the latter half of this season, joining the Gallagher PREM outfit from Doncaster Knights to provide cover during an injury crisis in southwest London.

Jones arrived at the Stoop alongside tighthead Alessandro Heaney in February, with senior coach Jason Gilmore saying: “With injuries to Harry Williams, Ethan Clarke and Jamie Miller in the past week and Luke Yendle returning to the Dragons, we’ve had to add further depth to our front row for the PREM Cup campaign and beyond.

“We’re in a tough spot in two specialist positions which we’re having to navigate on the move. Joe and Alessandro have come into the building this week and had to settle in quickly, but they are excited for the opportunity to contribute to the shirt.”

The well-travelled Welshman will return to England’s second division next season to join a Worcester side who currently sit in fourth place in Champ Rugby.

“I’m grateful and excited to sign for Worcester Warriors next season,” Jones said.

“I’m looking forward to being part of something special in the coming years.”

Warriors head coach Matt Everard said: “Joe brings a lot of experience.

“He is a superb set-piece forward, both in the scrum and the maul and has recently delivered that at the top level with Harlequins.”

The Warriors have further bolstered their front-row by recruiting Nottingham hooker Jack Dickinson.

“I’m excited to join Worcester Warriors next season,” the 27-year-old said.

“Worcester’s a club with a lot of history and an exciting future.

“I can’t wait to rip in with the lads and get to know the supporters.”

Everard added: “Jack is a really experienced, top-end Champ player, he brings a dogged edge around the park.

“He’s tough and doesn’t take a step backwards.”
