France player ratings vs Fiji | Nations Championship 2026
France player ratings: Les Bleus kicked off November in style, claiming a 54-17 win over Fiji at Stade de Gerland, with Fabien Galthié’s side looking in top form.
With Antoine Dupont back to his old tricks, France had a slow start, but after the 20th minute they took complete control of the game, scoring eight tries to Fiji’s two.
The main concern was Romain Ntamack’s departure after France’s third try, forcing Maxime Lucu to fill in at fly-half for almost 50 minutes.
1. Jean-Baptiste Gros – 8
Cannonball carry from the loosehead prop to open the scoring and a high-level set-piece performance. It was potentially one of Gros’ best performances for France in the last two years, with the front-rower finishing as one of the game’s leading tacklers (13) before being substituted.
2. Maxime Lamothe – 7.5
The Les Bleus’ set-piece purred from start to finish, and Maxime Lamothe was one of the main cogs, with the hooker nailing every lineout throw and steering the scrum and maul in the right direction.
3. Sipili Falatea – 7
Less involved than Jean-Baptiste Gros, but still made more than a few carries and scored his side’s third try. Little to fault in his set-piece work and he combined well with his front-row partners.
4. Florian Verhaeghe – 7.5
The Montpellier lock was a nuisance for Fiji at the lineout, frequently challenging opposition throw-ins and even stealing two, helping France seize control of the set-piece battle. Made a statement with this performance and may well have strengthened his case for a place in Fabien Galthié’s strongest 23.
5. Mickael Guillard – 7
Pilfered possession once and made good ground with his carrying, making his physicality count in a battle of wills. However, he exposed the ruck on a few occasions, allowing Fiji to counter and win the ball back.
6. Cameron Woki – 7.5
Made an impact at the lineout and in open play, becoming heavily involved in France’s attacking transitions, making several carries and linking a handful of quick passes to unleash the backline.
7. Paul Boudehent – 7.5
Claimed a try following a thumping driving maul, the cherry on top of an all-round display by the flanker. Showed great speed to narrow Fiji’s options from scrum situations, limiting Kuruvoli and Botitu’s attacking opportunities.
8. Francois Cros – 7
Did his job well without grabbing the headlines, leading the loose-forward trio with authority and direction.
9. Antoine Dupont – 9
After promising displays that were still short of his very best, Dupont looked much closer to the complete package here. The scrum-half generated several dangerous attacks and combinations that sliced Fiji open. Whether operating alongside Romain Ntamack or Maxime Lucu, Dupont combined seamlessly with both. He capped his outing with a late try and reminded everyone why he remains France’s premier conductor.
10. Romain Ntamack – 7
Commanded the French backline with class and helped set France’s third try in motion before his evening was cut short by injury. Nailed one conversion from two before departing.
11. Louis Bielle-Biarrey – 7.5
In the few interventions he had, Bielle-Biarrey barely put a foot wrong in attack or defence, consistently competing well in the air and providing a reassuring presence on France’s left wing. Rarely held onto the ball unnecessarily and looked to inject pace into Les Bleus’ attack. Also provided the assist for Theo Attissogbe’s try.
12. Yoram Moefana – 7.5
The Union Bordeaux-Begles centre was everywhere, initiating several attacks that helped France gain entry into Fiji’s 22. Timed his contributions well and added another layer to France’s attacking shape. Proved tireless through to the final whistle, carrying 17 times and consistently getting his side over the gain line.
13. Kalvin Gourgues – 7.5
Dominated the midfield battle alongside Moefana, carrying effectively and limiting Fiji’s options in open play. He might not have been the biggest player on the pitch, but repeatedly powered through contact and capped his display with a try.
14. Aaron Grandidier-Nkanang – 8.5
Is slowly cementing his place in the squad and with good reason. The winger’s pace consistently threatened Fiji and he looked dangerous whenever he was given space. Won his aerial contests, created several dangerous moments and grabbed his third Test try. A performance full of confidence and menace.
15. Theo Attissogbe – 6.5
At best, it was a mixed-bag display from the talented Section Paloise back. He was not at his usual standard in the air, failing to gather several kicks and missing two tackles that could have proved costly without the cover work of Cameron Woki and Yoram Moefana. Got himself on the scoresheet, which helped elevate an otherwise inconsistent outing.
REPLACEMENTS – 8
From the front row through to Maxime Lucu, France’s replacements provided fresh energy when Les Bleus needed it, helping the hosts maintain control of the contest. Lucu impressed after shifting to fly-half, keeping France’s attack ticking over, while Charles Ollivon and Tom Staniforth added extra physicality as Fiji attempted to fight their way back into the game.
