Former Scotland captain Stuart Hogg suffers further career blow
Former Scotland international Stuart Hogg has successfully undergone surgery to repair the Achilles tendon he ruptured on his left ankle whilst playing for Montpellier at the weekend.
The full-back suffered the latest blow to his headline-making career in Montpellier’s Top 14 win over Perpignan, the club confirmed in a statement. The Scotland centurion was replaced in the 53rd minute by New Zealand full-back Joshua Moorby, before being taken off the pitch.
His club haven’t specified how long he’ll be out for, but it is thought that the 32-year-old faces six to nine months on the sidelines.
Hogg, who until recently was Scotland’s record try-scorer, has played 16 matches for the club this season and scored 112 points after reviving his career following a troubled start to life in the south of France.
He has predominantly been used at fly-half, his position as a youngster in the Scottish Borders, with all but three of his 14 league starts coming with a 10 on his back.
Melrose-born Hogg is contracted to Montpellier, who are ninth in the Top 14, until 2027 but he now faces an injury-delayed start to what could behis final season as a pro.
