Pro D2 outfit Dax will begin their new campaign this week with a five-point deduction, after the Comité National Olympique et Sportif Français (CNOSF) confirmed that it will maintain their sanction.
With Dax set to get their campaign underway on Friday, August 29, against Valence Romans, the CNOSF made the statement that it would maintain the ban, handed out as a result of the club’s failure to comply with the regulations of the Commission de Contrôle des Championnats Professionnels (CCCP) regarding their budget over the past three years.
In a statement released by Dax, the club said that the deduction has been upheld despite their request for “conciliation”.
The club, which finished 11th last season, have said that they will appeal the decision, referring the matter to the Administrative Court.
A statement, shared on social media, reads: “Following the request for conciliation, US DAX Rugby Landes acknowledges the CNOSF’s proposal to maintain the penalty of five points for the 2025-2026 season and decides to oppose it.
“US DAX has therefore referred the matter to the Administrative Court for a review of the facts.
“Aware of the situation, the club’s management is taking responsibility and is doing everything possible to help the sports sector achieve its goal of maintaining its status despite this handicap.
“The club wishes to reassure its partners and supporters that the guarantees requested by the regulatory authority for the 2025-2026 season have been provided by its President and the other members of the Board of Directors.
“As this new season dawns, US DAX Rugby Landes will continue the development it began two years ago to give itself the means to continue growing and developing the talents of tomorrow.”
