Benetton and head coach Marco Bortolami have confirmed they will part ways at the conclusion of the current season.

The decision brings to an end a contract that was originally set to run until 30 June 2026, with both parties apparently agreeing that the move best serves the development of the club while allowing Bortolami to pursue other opportunities.

A statement reads: “The decision was taken with the utmost agreement between the parties, considering this the most appropriate choice with a view to ensuring the best development of the club’s sporting project and at the same time offering the coach new opportunities for his professional career.”

Bortolami first arrived in Treviso in the summer of 2016 as an assistant coach, overseeing the forwards and touchline under then-head coach Kieran Crowley. He stepped up to take charge of the senior side in July 2021, guiding the green-and-whites through two campaigns.

Marco Bortolami said of his exit: “I thank the club as well as every athlete, staff member and, last but not least, all the employees who have given their best every day to achieve the important goals of these years. I am thinking of the victory of the Rainbow Cup, the historic passages in the URC and European Cup and, above all, the prestigious access to the Champions Cup round of 16 that will see us engaged in a few weeks.

“Only the commitment and dedication of everyone have allowed the achievement of such ambitious results and for this I am grateful to everyone”

President Amerino Zatta said: “On behalf of the whole club, I would like to thank Marco for the work he has done, the professionalism and the commitment shown during the 9 seasons spent in Benetton Rugby, first as assistant and then as head coach. Bortolami has made an important contribution to the growth of the club and many young promises who have become real certainties for the club and the national team.”

The president emphasized the club’s commitment to immediate goals – pursuing the United Rugby Championship playoffs and preparing for the Champions Cup round of 16 – while also focusing on long-term ambitions.
