Bath player ratings vs Leicester Tigers | Gallagher PREM 2025/26
Bath player ratings: Bath’s unbeaten start to the Gallagher PREM season came to an end at the hands of rivals Leicester Tigers on Saturday, with Billy Searle kicking a penalty at the death to give the home side a 22-20 win.
This was not Bath at their dominant best, but there were nevertheless some strong displays in a side that had seen some rotation. With that said, there were some shaky performances in there for the reigning champions.
Here’s how the players rated:
15 Santiago Carreras – 6
A tricky grubber was regained for the opening try of the match, and continued to plague the Leicester defence. Brought runners into the game on either side of his shoulder, and was the architect of many a break and half-break.
14 Tom de Glanville – 5
Had some long runs down the right flank, but this was a tit-for-tat battle he had with Ollie Hassell-Collins, with the England wing getting the better of him a couple of times. The Leicester man probably came out on top on balance.
13 Louie Hennessey – 6
Packs a punch in defence and made some clever defensive reads for a 21-year-old.
12 Cameron Redpath – 6
Made some nice touches in the midfield like his dummy as he scored his try, but was part of a backline that barely fired in the second half.
11 Henry Arundell – 7
Provided the offload from the ground to put Dan Frost for the match’s opening try and then had his second assist later in the half when he skinned Hanro Liebenberg on the outside before feeding Cameron Redpath. Going forward, the 22-year-old is making a telling impact every game with pace and deceptive power. In the same way de Glanville had a head-to-head battle with Hassell-Collins, Arundell had a head-to-head battle with another England rival, Adam Radwan. On this flank, Arundell came out on top.
10 Finn Russell – 4
With Carreras outside him, the Lion could play with more individual freedom – his chip and chase, followed by a one-handed pass to Arundell, showed that. Not his most dominant performance, however, and his two missed kicks in the first half proved decisive. James O’Connor came out on top.
9 Ben Spencer – 5
A clash with Leicester at Welford Road was always going to be an attritional affair, so having a tactical kicker like Spencer was crucial, but he just didn’t wrestle control of the game in the way he can.
1 Beno Obano – 4.5
Did not have a good afternoon up against Joe Heyes, although a penalty did go his way at one point, but that kept Leicester in the game. Put some big defensive shots in elsewhere.
2 Dan Frost – 7
On hand to score one of the easiest tries he’ll ever score in the first half, but bizarrely let the ball fly past him when he could have scored his second later on. Adequate lineout display, though not perfect. Had to leave the field early in the second half with a hand injury.
3 Will Stuart – 4
Marmalised by Nicky Smith in the opening scrum of the contest, which ignited the Welford Road crowd, and didn’t have much luck thereafter. Not a good day to have a bad day at the scrum with England’s squad announced tomorrow and his tighthead rival Heyes scrummaging well.
4 Quinn Roux – 6
Good defensive attitude, taking the fight to the Tigers around the fringes.
5 Ross Molony – 4
Strong in contact, but pinged too many times when Leicester were gathering momentum in the second half. ‘Unforced’ infringements like closing the gap at the lineout were unnecessary and costly.
6 Ethan Staddon – 7
Early turnover set the tone, and that was not the only time he troubled Leicester’s forwards at the breakdown.
7 Sam Underhill – 5
Cheekily broke off a ruck to score Bath’s second try, but quiet for his standards. He still put some trademark shots in, though.
8 Alfie Barbeary- 6
Enjoyed himself out there, getting his hands on the ball in the wider channels. Quietened down as the game went on, but his clean break on the hour mark looked like it would spark the game back into life for Bath when they were chasing the game, but they didn’t capitalise.
