Ange Capuozzo misses out on Italy's 33-man squad for the Six Nations

Toulouse’s Ange Capuozzo is one of several big names to miss out on Gonzalo Quesada’s Italy squad for the Guinness Six Nations due to injury.

The 26-year-old broke his finger in Toulouse’s final match of 2025, a 60-14 victory over La Rochelle, and was expected to be out for three weeks. Though it is likely he will join Italy’s 33-man squad at some point, he has missed out for now ahead of their training camp in Verona, which will begin on Sunday, January 25.

The 31-cap star is joined by Sebastian Negri, Ross Vintcent, Tommaso Allan, Gianmarco Lucchesi and Jacopo Trulla in a list of players not considered for selection due to injury.

The squad, captained by Michele Lamaro, features two uncapped players, Zebre back-row Samuele Locatelli and centre Damiano Mazza, and will welcome back former Gallagher PREM stars Paolo Odogwu and Matt Gallagher, who missed the Quilter Nations Series.

The Azzurri will get their campaign started against Scotland in Rome on February 7 as they look to build upon a promising autumn where they beat Australia and Chile, and pushed world champions South Africa.

“These days of training are very important, filled with excitement as we await the pitch in the oldest rugby tournament in the world, facing some of the best national teams in the world,” said Quesada.

“These are always moments filled with emotion. Our last match in the 2025 Six Nations left us with a bitter taste in the mouth due to the result, but we delivered an excellent performance.

“We need to build on the form we showed last November, where we changed some of our training methods, quickly rediscovering our automatic rhythms in just a few training sessions, and then aim to show the performances we had against Ireland and Australia in 2025.”

So injury keeping him out, as well as the other big names such as Negri and Allan….

Odogwu being back is exciting. That man is one of the most explosive centres around and has been in great form.
