Molly Wright Bio

Molly Wright is a prop for Sale Sharks Women in Premiership Women’s Rugby, and has been part of the Scotland squad since 2020.

Wright was born on 13 May 1991 in New Zealand, and began playing rugby at the age of four. From 2011 to 2013, while studying at the University of Otago, she played rugby for the university’s team. She then briefly played for Otago Spirit before moving to Canterbury Women in 2014.

In 2017, Wright moved to Scotland, originally Dumfries, but relocated to Edinburgh a few months later. Here she eventually joined Watsonians. During her time at Watsonians, she participated in the 2018 Sarah Beaney Cup final, and scored two tries during the match. The following year, Wright was awarded Player of the Match in the final of the Sarah Beaney Cup, where the Ladies XV claimed victory.

After residing in Scotland for a few years, Wright became eligible to play for Scotland women’s national rugby union team. She made her debut for the side in January 2020. She also represented her adopted country at the delayed 2021 Rugby World Cup.

Her club career progressed in 2021 when she joined the Sale Sharks Women. She made her debut in late 2021, in a match against Loughborough Lightning.

With a solid career so far, we’re eager to see what’s next for Wright.
