Mack Hansen Bio

Mack Hansen was born in Canberra, Australia on 27 March 1998. He spent most of his formative years in the country, representing both Canberra Vikings and the Brumbies

However, in 2021, Mack Hansen left Australia and signed for Connacht in the United Rugby Championship. He’s played for the Irish province ever since.

During his younger years, Mack Hansen represented Australia. In fact, he played for the Australia U20 team at the 2018 World Rugby Under 20 Championship.

However, he ultimately decided to represent Ireland on the international stage. He qualifies to play for the side via his mother, who was born in Cork.

Since his debut for Ireland in 2022, Mack Hansen has become an integral part of the side. To date, he’s won two Six Nations Championships with Ireland, including a Grand Slam in 2023. In addition, he was nominated for the 2022 World Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year award.

Due to the strength of his performances for both Connacht and Ireland, Mack Hansen was selected in the British and Irish Lions squad for the team’s 2025 tour of Australia. However, despite playing well in the midweek matches, he did not make a test appearance on the tour.

Still young and with plenty left to offer for both Connacht and Ireland, we can’t wait to see how Mack Hansen’s career unfolds.
