Watch: Ex-Wallaby Nawaqanitawase scores 'Try of the Decade' in NRL
An NRL commentator was left gobsmacked by Mark Nawaqanitawase’s brilliant individual finish in the Roosters’ 24-20 defeat to the Bulldogs on Friday, excitedly calling it ‘the try of the decade.’
When Nawaqanitawase received the ball 20 metres out with his side trailing 18-14 with only 12 minutes to go, a try seemed highly improbable.
The 11-times capped winger was tight to the touchline and had three defenders coming across to cover, but somehow he managed to tip-toe his way down the line, tap the ball forward as he hopped to avoid the whitewash and then run back into the field of play to regather and touch down in the in-goal area inches before the dead ball line came into play.

“That could be the try of the decade,” Nine commentator Mat Thompson called.
“No way. That was freakish,” Andrew Johns added, while fellow league legend Billy Slater said, “What a play.”
While Nawaqanitawase’s second try of the match had to be seen to be believed, some of the winger’s defensive contributions were less out of this world, with a couple of bad errors under the high ball leading to tries for the log-leading Bulldogs.
