Champ rough diamond turned Wales international, Ellis Mee, has pledged his allegiance to Scarlets for the immediate future by signing a new deal with the Llanelli-based region.

The willowy wing arrived at Parc y Scarlets from Nottingham as a relative unknown in 2024 and has since gone on to play 43 times for the Scarlets and win 11 caps for his country.

Mee, 23, made his Test debut for Wales against Ireland in the 2025 Six Nations and could add to that tally after being named in Steve Tandy’s Nations Championship squad for November.

“I am delighted to have resigned with the Scarlets. Ever since joining the club a couple of seasons ago the boys have been so welcoming which made the move so much easier for me,” said Mee.

“The coaching staff have been really good with growing me as a player, I’ve really enjoyed the opportunities I’ve had and have learned a huge amount over the last couple of seasons. I can’t wait to see what is to come.

“With the young ambitious squad that we have here, I am really looking forward to seeing what we can build in the coming seasons. I really think we’ve got something special in this group of lads and there’s a real belief in what we’re trying to build together.”

“He’s an exciting player, a great character within the group and someone who represents the ambition and energy we’re trying to build.

“He’s got genuine pace, power and an ability to beat defenders. He’s also strong in the air, increasingly effective in his defensive work and is developing a much better understanding of how to influence games, both with and without the ball.

“When Ellis arrived from Nottingham, he had some outstanding natural attributes, but what has impressed me most is his appetite to learn, his willingness to work and the progress he’s continued to make.

“Ellis’s journey is also something that reflects the wider work taking place here at the Scarlets. There’s a tremendous amount of effort that goes into identifying players, bringing them into our environment and helping them develop.

“Developing players who can perform at international level has always been an important part of the Scarlets’ identity and our contribution to Welsh rugby and it’s vital that we continue to create an environment where talented players can fulfil their potential.

“Equally important is retaining those players as they develop. We want to build a competitive Scarlets team, and that means keeping our best young talent, giving them the opportunity to grow together and creating genuine competition for places.”
