Four yellow cards for Edinburgh in narrowest of defeats to Munster
Fineen Wycherley scored a late try as Munster recorded a third-consecutive United Rugby Championship win with a narrow 20-19 triumph over an ill-disciplined Edinburgh in Cork.
Andrew Smith sent the home side on their way when he latched on to Calvin Nash’s long kick downfield after just two minutes.
However, Edinburgh struck back just five minutes later when Ewan Ashman crossed over from close range.
The Scottish side then moved into the lead with 16 minutes gone through Ben Vellacott, but Glen Young and D’arcy Rae were both yellow-carded before prop Michael Milne finished off a lineout drive.
Munster trailed 19-10 shortly after the interval as Darcy Graham crossed over. Freddy Douglas received his side’s third yellow of the night, and Milne doubled his personal tally with 58 minutes on the clock.
Edinburgh captain Magnus Bradbury then saw yellow, and the hosts made their numerical advantage count when Wycherley scored with eight minutes to go to secure a nervy bonus-point win.
