Bath produce standout Champions Cup performance against Munster

That was very impressive from Bath, they were the best team by far and were simply fitter and stronger than Munster throughout.

It’s pretty clear that Munsters loss is Bath’s gain and this really showed what they missed by letting JvG go.

Gutsy Leicester Tigers fall to Ronan O'Gara's La Rochelle

The yellow card for Leicester was absolute crap. Is he supposed to cut his legs of when he jumps. If you run under a player while they are taking the ball in the air you might find a foot coming down on top of you. The knee was close on 90 degrees not straight.

You did, actually. “Have England Suddenly Become a ‘Lucky’ Team” was a decent article, but the comments were a different story.

You said, in reply to Tom: “It’s the Leicester influence that Borthers has never truly shrugged off. Kick 35+ times per game, no more than two phases in your own half etc. I just don’t feel it’s well adapted to the ppl England has available.”

'It's crazy': All Black midfielder celebrates first Champions Cup performance

Super reception for him. An open mind is what Leinster need. He played well in this 20 min cameo and his threat and pace created a lot of room for others.

His first touch was a 5 metre scrum: Leinster just passed it out to him and let him have a go against some backs. He landed a metre short but Leinster got there after a few recycles.

Bulls player ratings vs Bordeaux | Investec Champions Cup 2025/26

Bulls were outstanding in the first half. I had to leave in the second (to go to Aviva to watch Leinster) but BB had scored a try back against 14 and obviously built on that.

This looks like the year that SA teams will break into the knock outs of this competition. You could get a sense of the Bulls fans and players starting to get the love for the great tournament. They will probably lament not building on their incredibly efficient first half.

Late Leinster surge papers off tricky Champions Cup win over Harlequins

First match for Rieko Ioane who came on as sub to a tremendous reception.

Leinster chose to scrum at every opportunity. They looked dominant but it was scrum penalties that allowed Harlequins get access and two first half tries.

Sharks name B-team for French giants as Plumtree exit fast-tracked

John was a great natal player but his heart is in nz. John go back. Gary T, the franchise has a great franchise that you are blowing up. I lve in the uk and love the sharks but its not lekker to see. My father has passed and was a sharks supporter and wouldnt dig this. Come on man.

I’m pretty sure I never said any such thing about the box-kicking strategy but I can find articles predicting England would split France and Ireland in the 6N table. And suggesting exactly the two front rows they are fielding now. And lauding the three sevens policy ahead of the orthodox B/R all the papers [and you probably] were putting forward in the autumn. And praising Tommy Freeman’s aerial ability and saying he and IFW were certainties to go on tour down under!

I also understand that Test coaches will not dump experience as readily as you seem to think. England already have five excellent choices at centre [inc Freeman] and it will be hard for any newbie to break into that top echelon. Maybe Atkinson is good enough to do it in 2026, who knows? But it is not the childs play it appears to those who only pick teams on paper.

All my comments are written by me and reflect my opinion. I suspect Borthwick has the same opinion. He speaks extremely highly of Atkinson, who the Telegraph were reporting was due to start ahead of Dingwall in the autumn. Obviously Lawrence is an incredible test player, but Borthwick has clearly decided that he isn’t a 12. His last 9 test caps have all come at 13; while his last club start at 12 was almost 2 years ago.

I agree . . . It would make sense to test the 3x7 strategy as is with a 6|2 bench first to see how they get on BUT if SA do overpower them up front (it will be harder), then I think not only Borthers but everyone else should roll the dice 7|1 to see if you can live with SA.

Their 2019 scrum forced the SH to change the shape of their pack, supersizing the props and adding the bigger guy at 6 to shore up the pack. Sadly it has then made Razzie add even more power but if you don’t do something, I am not too sure how teams will compete against that pack, it’s just so good.
