Trailfinders lure 'exciting' England wing to PWR runners-up

Two-cap England Red Roses wing Bo Westcombe Evans has joined Trailfinders Women ahead of the 2026/27 JAECOO Premiership Women’s Rugby campaign.

To date the 24-year-old has spent the entirety of her senior career in the East Midlands with Loughborough Lightning. Last season Westcombe Evans was PWR’s joint-top try-scorer, having crossed the whitewash 12 times in 16 league appearances.

It was Westcombe Evans’ first season back after a year out of rugby with an ACL injury sustained in 2024. The injury occurred just weeks after the wing made her Red Roses debut at the 2024 edition of WXV1 and scored her maiden Test rugby try against the USA Women’s Eagles.

She joins a Trailfinders team closely removed from PWR heartbreak in the showpiece finale against Saracens at the end of June. Saracens ran out 52-14 winners at the Twickenham Stoop as the West London side played knockout rugby for the first time last season.

Westcombe Evans’ instant return to form last season saw the 24-year-old recalled to John Mitchell’s England squad for the 2026 Guinness Women’s Six Nations.

She did not appear for the side as they claimed a sixth Grand Slam title in a row and a move to London can strengthen her pursuit of additional Test honours in a team that will want more knockout rugby success in the coming years.

The 24-year-old is Trailfinders second addition this summer after Helen Nelson also traded the East Midlands for Vallis Way. England internationals Abi Burton and Haidee Head have signed contract extensions.

Trailfinders have also announced the re-signings of England Under-21 international Grace White and former Wasps back Jess Cooksey.
