Toulouse reveal the extent of Jack Willis' injury
Jack Willis might not play again in 2025 after suffering a rib injury in Toulouse’s thumping 49-7 win away to Montauban on Saturday.
Playing at blindside, Willis was taken off just before half-time and the Top 14 leaders say he could be “out for several weeks.” The good news is that scans have reveal no fractures.
Willis has played in eight of Toulouse’s 10 games so far this season, with his seven starts coming exclusively at number six.
Last season he was named Top 14 Player of the Season, succeeding Antoine Dupont as the league’s best player.
With nine tries and 28 turnovers, the formidable back-rower played a critical role in Toulouse retaining the Bouclier de Brennus and he’s fast being talked about in the same bracket as Jonny Wilkinson in terms of best English exports to French rugby.
The 28-year-old joined Toulouse in 2022 after Wasps went into administration but is now unable to add to his 15 England caps as he plays his club rugby abroad.
Next season, his brother Tom, a fellow England international, will also be plying his trade across the channel after choosing to leave Saracens and join Bordeaux-Begles.
