The Ospreys will play in the heart of Swansea at St Helen’s from next season after agreeing a “landmark partnership” with Swansea Council.

The move brings professional rugby back to one of Welsh rugby’s most historic venues, with the region playing at The Brewery Field in Bridgend and the Swansea.com Stadium in recent seasons.

Swansea RFC will also mark their return to the ground in their 150th anniversary year, moving away from Dunvant RFC’s Broadacre ground for their home games.

St Helen’s will not only host matchdays but will also be used throughout the week by schools, clubs and Swansea University, with an expanded community programme planned as part of the partnership.

“St Helen’s is one of the most iconic grounds in Welsh rugby, and the opportunity to play there again is hugely exciting for everyone involved,” said Ospreys head coach Mark Jones.

“As a group, we want to create an environment that players and supporters connect with, somewhere with real identity and energy. Bringing professional rugby back to St Helen’s gives us that, and we’re looking forward to building something special there.”

Ospreys CEO Lance Bradley added: “This is an important step for the Ospreys as we continue to establish ourselves as the heart of the community.

“St Helen’s gives us the platform to grow, from the matchday experience through to new commercial opportunities and deeper connections with our supporters and partners. It’s a hugely exciting moment for the club.”

Managing Director Swansea RFC Keith Colclough said: “Everyone involved with Swansea RFC are delighted about this news, and the prospect of returning home next season to a new-look St Helen’s. It’s an exciting time for the club on and off the field, and for the wider rugby community in the city. We are grateful to the Council for their support, recognising the importance of rugby, and St Helen’s, to the people of Swansea.”

Good move. Putting a little pressure on the powers that be to keep Ospreys alive after 2026/2027 season.
