It's about time rugby fans grew up

Rugby isn’t going to get cheaper to run, players salary and energy will likely only go one way, which are the two main costs, so I expect ticket prices will continue to grow at 5% p.a and in order to break even, it suggests the fans should be prepared for 5-10% increases, which is what they need to charge to rebalance the costs of the game.

Let’s be under no illusion, it’s the fans that will be asked to pay more to fund the game, there is no other easy solution coming that avoids it.

I think it will be interesting to see how Mason Grady gets on. I always thought he would become a much better player but his career stalled and injuries have taken over.

Should still be young enough to get back but he may need a different club/environment to get the best out of him.

As I was doing the NZ list, you notice how precise the fall off in attack was after that ARG loss but actually, it’s the defence that may well have been his downfall over those last 9 games.

It’s fine margins but they basically scored 1 try less per game and conceded one more in defence . . . . And it’s good night Razor.

Louis Rees-Zammit marks Six Nations return with position change

His strenght is in flying down the wing and/or kicking it ahead of him. He can’t do that at full back and his efforts to do so against BB resulted in a lot of damage. I hope Tandy didn’t feel obliged to include him so stuck him at FB. He may be under instructions not to kick back. But England will surely leverage that against Wales.

Then again, at the 25 6N Alldritt had twice as many carries carries as the next French forward, more breaks than any other, and led the team in breakdown steals on defence. He even found time to win some lineout ball.

Those are very big boots to fill, not least in work rate.

Premiership Women's Rugby: RugbyPass' midseason team of the year

Bonkers that 7 of that team are not qualified for the Red Roses, yet being supported financially and developed by the RFU. Equally bonkers that you pick the greatest English and Red Roses attacking threat out of position on the wing, where she would be less effective, and replace her with a lesser player with less attacking capability.

Do club players play more games than franchise players? The top 14 season is long, but teams often rest players for away fixtures, and the Premiership and the URC are the same number of games - although with the URC having more play offs and the added complication of travel. I assume (but actually don’t know) that the unions will encourage franchises to rest international players at certain stages of the season, but that is also true of the RFU and the Premiership clubs.
