Sopoaga left Friday night’s clash against the Chiefs just six minutes into the game, hobbling off the field after going down with a non-contact injury following a routine kick.

The 27-year-old confirmed on Twitter that the injury was not as bad as it looked.

Highlanders coach Aaron Mauger confirmed the same during a post-match interview.

“He’s just jammed a couple of bones up, so not as bad as we first thought when he came off,” said Mauger.

“It didn’t look good, did it? It was a little bit concerning but hopefully it’s not too bad and we’ll get more of an idea tomorrow.”

The Wasps-bound flyhalf will have a week off to nurse his injury as the Highlanders now have their second bye of the season before taking on the Brumbies at Forsyth Barr Stadium on April 14.
