France player ratings vs South Africa | Quilter Nations Series 2025

The mindset of that SA team is unreal. The 14 men against Italy in the summer was in hindsight of benefit. Amazing defence by SA to stay in it and the ability by an individual to step up when needed (Reinach). Tactically brilliant and accurate all match on what was not a good day for them for most of that match. The coaching team is magnificent. Ireland must rue not having a progressive Felix Jones character in the coaching ranks to assist Farrell.

The SH giants are defending better than NH counterparts, using goal line drops as an effective out by carrying and holding up less threatening line drives over the line.

Sach was the sole reason that the SA backline did not fire! He, as always tries to do it all himself. A total of 5 passes from him in 80 minutes of rugby tells the story! Even RG Snyman, as a tight forward passed five times. mani made 8 passes in his 24 minutes. Rugby is a TEAM sport!

Doing ok in some areas and also the ABs XV has been excellent to chop and change

There’s been a few outliers like Love who should’ve been playing in either team but not many

Scotland brace for Finn Russell injury blow

As soon as they started taping the knee, he probably should have come off but it was NZ and Finn will give everything for those snapshots in time to build lasting memories, which has probably done more damage as a consequence.

I doubt he will play but just hope he is OK for when he comes back to Bath. He’s too important for us to be away for a long period of time.

I think the boks RWC squad will be easier than you think.

The first two places will go to the best placed players (assuming they are not injured), then the other spaces will go to more experienced players than can step in and round out the 36 to cover injury.

I'm not quite sure I'd have either in Vs NZ unless IFW or freeman are injured. Then again does steward offer more against the All blacks than Marcus does? Tough call.

It likely won't happen but would like to see Fin smith in at 10 again, especially with his ability to take it to line and against a very tough opponent will only aid his development.

England A name 30-man squad for All Blacks XV clash

It’s IRE doing the U23 and if they can convince the other home Unions to put teams up, they could play an U20 & U23 6 Nations, which would help them develop the youngsters.

I agree about the U20’s, they are too good for the Championship, yet not good enough for the premiership, so are caught in the middle. Not an easy solution to change quickly.

I only saw the highlights and NZ XV were quality, playing a beautiful style and some really nice offloading. The difference in both experience, ability and prep was clear to see, which is the benefit of being a touring development side.

England were disjointed and I only think they had 3 or 4 days to put that team together, which showed in their display.

Don’t blame JS for OZs woes. He is a fine coach who has worked wonders with limited resources and the injury problems that beset all teams. Yes OZ has had more than their share of disappointing results but they have also had some outstandingly good wins too. No opposition can afford to take them at all lightly as when they are good they can be genuine dark horses as even world champions SA found out to their embarrassment.

Yes he is. That is why Jesse was covering that channel. He doesn't always get the credit he is due. He reads the defence like a book and is very good off the line to disrupt or tackle and stop the momentum without going offside. He doesn't do flashy, he do the nitty and gritty and people prefer flashy, so he gets a lot more criticism than he deserves. Against guys like LBB, you need that type of experience to keep them out. Rassie is very clever in how he use his players. Especially his hybrids. The way the Boks just took fire in the 2nd half after mostly defending in the first half against a very spirited and passionate French team, holding them at bay, must be a nightmare sight for Italy, Ireland and Wales that still have to face this Bok team. We will most likely see Canaan Moodie in the Italy and Wales games, but I think Jesse Kriel will play against the Irish again. Rassie won't be experimenting against Ireland, but I can't wait to see who he will choose against Italy and Wales. I actually expect him to use all the younger players to give them caps and some experience as next year I think he will refine his 36 man squad for the WC in 2027. Basically let the dogs loose and let them wreck havoc. Guys we will most likely see more of next season will be guys like Cameron Hanekom and Elrigh Louw and others that are currently injured. The depth is truely scary in this team. I'm very glad I don't have to choose the WC squad. For other countries it would be an easy task, but which of these players do you leave out? It's going to be an impossible task because those left out in the end would be just as deserving as those going. I don't envy Rassie.

Replace JS? When he got 2 games left? You clearly didn't think this article through. This was a very indifferent season for the Wallabies. They got some great wins and close losses. Yes, his win % dropped, but he turned the Wallabies around. They were very very bad. They are a team on the up thanks to Joe Schmidt's coaching. They have shown what they can do when they are on fire. How many teams can claim to have beaten the Boks in the past 2 years? It was a packed Boks team too that lost by such a big margin at Ellis Park against the Wallabies. With a decision here I there going there way in the close losses and against the Lions, and it would be a different story. They are also a young team still finding their feet, and it's a team full of promise. They lack depth. For what they have, they have done very well. Yes, they are far from challenging for any titles, but the WC coming to Australia might get a few code hoppers that would benefit the Wallabies. The lure of Fame may just get them a few very good players and they might even become contenders in the next WC. Who knows?

SFM missed 3 straightforward kicks. Manie had two up and under charged down. This wasn’t a vintage performance at 10 but enough to destroy France in Paris. The silencing of the French crowd was a perfect 10. Wiese was my MOTM. Good game but needed 15 on the park to get our wingers into the action.. hopefully against Ireland.
