Be respectful and learn to say players' names correctly, even when they cannot

Punters and commentators alike have been making a meal of pronouncing players’ names since forever but fortunately some past and present Super Rugby pros are here to help us earn some respect by saying their names properly. Confusingly though, campaign front-man Piri Weepu mispronounces his own name, although this could just be subtle humour to help illustrate the point.

In the video, phonetic spelling appears on screen and his name is displayed as Pee-ree Wepp-oo, however, he then goes on to pronounce it as ‘Pih-ree Wepp-oo’. Some people are going to argue that if he can’t even pronounce his own name correctly, how can others be expected to get it right? For goodness sakes, his one’s not even that hard!
