Referee change confirmed for England and South Africa semi-final

Referee Mathieu Raynal is set to replace Andrew Brace as an assistant referee in tomorrow’s World Cup semi-final clash between South Africa and England at the Stade de France.

The Frenchman officiated England’s win over Fiji last Saturday at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille and comes in after Brace pulled a calf muscle this week.

The fact that Jack willis is effectively unavailable for England selection, due largely too the myopic, paranoid, self interested entity that is Prem rugby, is a travesty.

If the prem was the product that it is claimed be, then why does it need to be ringfenced, re relegation/Promotion, and why are English qualified players plying their trade outside the country effectively barred from representing England.

I wasn't actually drawing comparisons between players myself. I was simply criticizing using those guys by way of example to highlight why it's not really reasonable for people to be calling for this guy or that guy to be dropped based on the fickle judgements they make about them.

I wasn't comparing Ross and Tate to Wright or Jorgo or JAS or anyone else for that matter. What I was trying to draw a comparison to is that before that test, lots of people, including myself I will admit, were saying things like Wright wasn't cutting it and Jorgo looked tired and JAS looked confused and many other things besides all while calling for changes.

Was good to see paisami step up and looked composed (not always the case). I think he and loners took alot of weight off donno which allowed him to play better also. Haven't seen the wbs kick/game manage/exit that well in a long time!

Funny how much criticism he gets from some for being one dimensional yet I've seen very little talk of how many good passes he threw in this game. Les really starting to show up Schmidt in the selection department imo.

Agreed, they may still have the scrum but they no longer have the D they did in 2019. Those short balls off hunter also created plenty of gainline.

66th minute watch Wilson have three involvements in about 45 secs after WBs lose a scrum and are under pressure. Makes a cover tackle, then chops ox behind the gainline one phase later to stop momentum, then chops another forward another phase later and gives suaalii a dominant hit to turn it over.

It seems very tactically astute. I'm no lineout guru but they seem to have alot of calls and really change it up making it hard for opposition guys to even get up and compete. Who wouldve thought Wilson would be such a lineout target a few years ago.

Maybe. That's certainly an opinion you can hold. But we don't know yet that what you think will happen is actually what is going to happen.

The Wallabies have proven unable to beat even very beatable AB sides over the last 10 encounters and it is at Eden Park, a place they've not tasted victory since 1986.
