Ospreys inside centre Phil Cokanasiga is heading back to the Gallagher PREM next season after Gloucester raided the South Wales side for the third time.

Former England U20 international Cokanasiga, who is the younger brother of Bath and England international Joe, has scored four tries in 13 appearances for the United Rugby Championship outfit this season.

He joined the Swansea-based outfit at the start of last season and will join his team-mates Jac Morgan and Dewi Lake at Kingsholm, while Jean Kleyn, Dan Robson, and Joe Joyce are the other three new arrivals.

Cokanasiga, who also plays at outside centre, came through the London Irish Academy, moved to Leicester Tigers in 2022, where he also spent time on loan in the Championship with Nottingham.

He was also a member of the Tigers side that lost the Premiership Cup Final at Kingsholm in March 2024, and feels that he is much better for his time with the Ospreys.

“I’m really excited to take on a new opportunity in the PREM. My time with the Ospreys has been invaluable, and I feel it’s prepared me really well to step back into the Gallagher PREM sharper, hungrier, and more confident in my game.

“I already know a lot of the players and coaches at Kingsholm, so I’m looking forward to settling in quickly this summer and getting out on the pitch in front of the Gloucester fans. I can’t wait to be part of it,” he said.

Cherry and Whites head coach, George Skivington, is pleased to be adding Barnet-born Cokanasiga to the squad as they look to rebuild following a poor campaign.

“Phil is a talented rugby player, and he’s coming off the back of a successful second season with the Ospreys. He’ll be a great addition for us when he arrives, and will add extra quality to a midfield which is already very strong,” he said.
