I think that's doing him a disservice. It may be that he's best suited to an impact sub role but he's had many standout 80 minute performances for his club and u20s in his short career.

Agree, with other coaches that used a different approach he probably would have kicked on more and been an asset at international level. Unfortunately that’s not been the case and age isn’t on his side. I agree it seems a waste selecting him for the squad if he isn’t going to play as it could be taken by someone that is a viable option

Lawrence wasn’t great but was often left with too much space to defend as Dingwall stays in to support Ford. If you have a 10 that can be trusted to make a tackle then it does ease that problem somewhat. Dingwall’s meagre attempts to track back on Irish line breaks was inexcusable

Ireland. Scotland had a clear hangover from beating England in Murrayfield when playing Wales on Saturday. I think England had a small hangover too. They were losing anyway but their concentration collapsed really badly.

Current rugby has three basic, primary tactics: kick&slap, hit&ruck, jump&maul. Whatever happens between those moments seems incidental.

The rankings were not that defective in RWC ‘23. World rugby was defective in using rankings from 2019 for that tournament. France were too polite. They should have spoken up.

The silo-ing of teams does have repurcussions. Also how often they play home and away eg Fiji. Are they normally top middle or bottom of their Champs?

eg Argentina for years struggled to win matches. Even if they improved, it wasn’t get enough to pass the threshold of winning against their opponents and actually getting points. They ended up 10 points adrift. Same as Wales now: constantly beaten by Tier 1s so always a lot adrift. They have improved but that won’t be reflected as not enough to win.

Razor got canned on a not disastrous win ratio but the NZRU are capable of making decisive decisions. Typical of an elite environment.

I thought that the RFU would actually be capable of being a bit more ruthless. If he turns it around for the last two games, realistically his level best would be 1/2 and avoiding a di*king in France, would a corner be turned?

What these ratings and the 6N shows is how foolish it is to assess a team by reference to one or two wins or losses. England beats ABs they are the best or No2 in world. Ireland loses to France and they are destined to drop out of top 5. England loses to Ireland and Scotland and they are goners (and the coach should be sacked). France win a couple at home and should be ranked above the ABs. Lets just see how they go against Scotland and England before we hand them the No2 mantle.
