Leicester lock in three more players in triple deal
Leicester Tigers trio Charlie Clare, Gabriel Hamer-Webb and Olly Cracknell have all signed new deals at Welford Road.
A week after Emeka Ilione headlined a list of seven players to extend their deals with the Tigers, the trio have continued the trend.
Clare, 34, is in his sixth season at Leicester, having joined from Worcester Warriors in 2019, while Hamer-Webb, 25, only arrived in the Midlands this summer from Cardiff and has gone on to make three appearance in the PREM Rugby Cup this season.
Wales back-row Cracknell was the final signing to complete a bumper day for the Tigers.
The new deals are a boost for the Tigers, who are set to see George Martin and Nicky Smith leave the club at the end of the season.
Reflecting on the signings, head Geoff Parling said: “I think Charlie has improved with age and is playing his best rugby. He’s got a lot of love for the club combined with a great attitude to get better.”
“Whilst being very thoughtful in what he does he also rips into training and sets the tone physically for our forward back.”
“We’re chuffed that he has extended his time with us.
“Gabe was impressive throughout pre-season and in our early PREM Cup games.”
“He’s athletic, physical, and powerful and we’re really looking forward to firstly having him back fit this season and then pushing on a showing what he’s capable of.”
“He has a great attitude and we’re sure is a player that is going to score plenty of points in a Tigers shirt.
“What Crackers has achieved is a testament to what you can do through being resilient and persistent throughout your career.”
“He’s the ultimate example of that by going on to be capped by Wales at the age of 31 and gives absolutely everything when he pulls on a Tigers shirt.”
“He’s also an outstanding human to have in the changing room and is a real barometer for myself of where the group is at.”
