Former All Black's 16 points help Clermont topple Stade Français

After making the move across the world from New Zealand to continue his career, former All Black Harry Plummer has carried on where he left off in New Zealand, helping French Top 14 club Clermont climb up the table in this year’s competition.

Clermont currently sit 9th out of 14 teams, three places off the playoff positions, after a 36-32 victory this morning against Stade Francais Paris in Clermont.

The 27-year-old former Blues player left his country of birth after last season’s Super Rugby Pacific semi-final, where the Blues went down to the eventual winners of the 2025 competition, the Crusaders.

Plummer’s performance on Sunday morning was pivotal in Clermont’s victory, scoring 16 points off the boot throughout the game.

The one-Test All Black also played his part in the final game-winning try to winger Lucas Tauzin, where Plummer was positioned at second receiver off a backline move.

Once the first-five got his hands on the ball, a slight delay in pass meant one defender was out of the play, and then a couple of extra passes gave Tauzin the easy task of putting the ball down in the corner.

Plummer’s stretch of four penalties in the space of 20 minutes in the second half helped stop Stade Francais’ momentum, as the away side scored three tries in the second half to Clermont’s one.

English midfielder Joe Marchant was against his former Blues teammate, playing his hand in some of Léo Barré’s second half double for Stade Francais.

Clermont and Plummer will take on former Tasman loose-forward Max Hicks in their next Top 14 fixture, who plays for USA Perpignan.
