Experienced playmaker headlines Old Glory’s latest re-signings for 2026
Talented playmaker Jason Robertson has put pen to paper on a new deal with Old Glory DC for the upcoming 2026 Major League Rugby season, with the club confirming another three re-signings this month.
Robertson was part of Old Glory’s inaugural squad in 2020 before returning home to New Zealand for a campaign in the National Provincial Championship. The No. 10 played eight matches that season, including five starts, before returning to the United States.
The fly-half has been a mainstay of Old Glory’s starting side, becoming an important member of the roster over multiple seasons. With Old Glory confirming Robertson has re-signed, the New Zealander is expected to play a big part in their championship push next season.

Robertson has experience abroad in New Zealand and France, having played for Pro D2 side Narbonne and Bayonne in the Top 14. The 31-year-old started in all seven appearances for Old Glory last season, scoring a try in a round one 31-29 win over Miami Sharks.
After six consecutive starts at fly-half, Robertson shifted to fullback for a clash with Seattle Seawolves on April 6. In 2024, Robertson made 17 appearances for Old Glory before a brief stint with Southland in New Zealand’s provincial competition.
Jason Emery is another key re-signing for the club, as another New Zealander with invaluable experience overseas and in MLR. Emery spent some time with the Highlanders in Super Rugby before joining the Japan-based Sunwolves.
The midfielder has represented the Manawatu Turbos in New Zealand’s NPC and later linked up with Rugby United New York in MLR. After more than 30 appearances for New York, Emery moved to Washington DC, and has now re-committed for a second season with the club.

Old Glory have confirmed that Collin Rosse and Canadian international Calixto Martinez are returning for 2026. Martinez was selected third overall in the 2022 MLR Draft – the highest pick for a Canadian – and is now set for his fourth season with Old Glory.
These re-signing announcements are a positive for Old Glory as they build towards the 2026 season. Clubs are unveiling some of their own crucial re-signings and new transfers, with the Seawolves sharing a particularly impressive update.
Former World Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year nominee Mark Bennett brings URC and Olympic experience to Seattle, having signed on after time with Edinburgh Rugby. Bennett has also played for Glasgow Warriors and ASM Clermont Auvergne in France.
“Mark is an exceptional talent and an outstanding individual who will add value to the entire team. His drive for excellence is infectious, and his leadership skills will undoubtedly inspire the whole squad,” coach Allen Clarke said in a statement.
“I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know him over the past few months, and it’s clear that he’s genuinely passionate about joining a club that shares his ambition to win and grow the game in the US. I’m excited to work with him and look forward to the positive impact he’ll have on our team.”
