Long-serving, back-row forward Jack O’Donoghue has extended his stay at Munster beyond the end of the season after signing a new one-year deal.

The 32-year-old has scored 31 tries in 236 games since making his debut in 2014, and has featured 17 times so far this season, including a 50th Champions Cup appearance in January against Toulon.

A two-cap Ireland international, O’Donoghue became the first Waterford player to captain Munster in the professional era away to Cardiff in 2018 and has led the province regularly over the past eight years.

O’Donoghue made his 100th Munster appearance against Leinster in May 2019 after recovering from a long-term knee injury and clocked up his double century away to Edinburgh in May 2024, aged 30. In doing so, he became the youngest-ever player to reach the 200-cap landmark for the province.

He was named Munster Rugby Player of the Year in 2021/22 after another standout campaign that saw him feature in 23 of the 26 games and clock up more minutes on the field than any other player (1,638).
