New recruit Dan Lancaster is set to make his first start for Glasgow Warriors against Northampton Saints in a preseason friendly at Scotstoun on Friday.

Scottish-qualified Lancaster made the move from Racing 92 over the summer, and will wear the No.10 jersey in a much-changed line-up from the side that lost 47-14 to Gallagher PREM champions Bath last week.

The Warriors will also welcome back Scotland No.8 Jack Dempsey ahead of the new United Rugby Championship season, which begins at the end of the month.

Dempsey has been out of action since the Guinness Six Nations due to a hamstring injury.

“We look forward to running out at Scotstoun for the first time this season tomorrow night, as we continue to build towards the start of a new season,” Warriors head coach Franco Smith said to glasgowwarriors.org.

“We were encouraged by the performances of our academy talents down in Bath last weekend, gaining valuable experience against a top-class opponent.

“Northampton will pose another stern test tomorrow, as we continue to integrate more of our senior players alongside our academy prospects in preparation for the new campaign.”
