Canada's Women's Rugby World Cup 2025 run featured in four-part documentary

Canada’s remarkable run to the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup final will be revisited in a new four-part documentary series offering unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to Kévin Rouet’s side.

ALL HEART: A RUGBY STORY follows Canada from their World Cup campaign through to their final against England at Allianz Stadium, where the Red Roses claimed a 33-13 victory.

The documentary has been directed by award-winning filmmaker Kathleen Jayme. Previously, Jayme co-wrote Naomi Osaka: The Second Set and Finding Big Country.

Jay Baruchel (BlackBerry and the How to Train Your Dragon trilogy) is an executive producer, as are Canadian rock band The Tragically Hip. The Tragically Hip raised funds for the Canada women’s national rugby team with co-branded merchandise and are long-time supporters of women’s sport in Canada.

ALL HEART: A RUGBY STORY will premiere on Friday, 9 October, when all four episodes will be made available for streaming on Bell Media’s streaming platform, Crave.

The documentary was made possible thanks to partnerships between Rugby Canada, World Rugby and Boat Rocker Studios, providing unprecedented access. Viewers will get first-hand insight into the mixture of senior and rising talent striving to take Canada to the very top of the rugby world.

The documentary is being released one week before Canada’s WXV Global Series 2026 campaign resumes. In October, the world’s third-ranked side will host the Red Roses on consecutive weekends at Toronto’s BMO Field and Ottawa’s TD Place.

Already in the WXV Global Series, Canada have played three games in Europe. This has included a win against Scotland, a draw with England and a 21-5 loss to France in La Rochelle.

Ticket sales for the BMO Field clash in Toronto have indicated that a new record attendance for a standalone women’s rugby fixture in North America will be established.

Alexandra Tessier, Canada’s vice-captain, said in August: “I am always excited to play at home, and this shows that women’s rugby in Canada is growing and that our sport is growing.

“Every Canadian supporter always gives it their all, and the vibe is always incredible when we play at home. It’s going to be an incredible day.

“I thought we captured a lot of supporters during the World Cup last year, and this confirms that we’ve got them hooked and that they are still with us and supporting us. Canadians are buying into this team and into our sport. It’s amazing to see.”
