Billy Vunipola added to England squad

By Jack Davies
England’s Billy Vunipola.

Billy Vunipola has been added to the England squad ahead of Saturday’s Six Nations clash with Scotland after making a successful return from injury for Saracens.

Vunipola – named in a 30-man training squad – had been sidelined since November after undergoing knee surgery but managed 72 minutes of Sarries’ 35-27 Premiership win against Newcastle Falcons on Sunday.

Eddie Jones will welcome having the powerful number eight at his disposal as England look to complete unprecedented back-to-back Six Nations grand slams, sitting three points clear at the top after three matches.

Speaking to BBC Newcastle before the squad was announced, Vunipola said: “I talked to Eddie this week and said that if I come through the game then we can talk.

“I’d love to be back in the mix but I don’t want to disrespect anybody and say I’ll walk straight back in.”

Harlequins wing Marland Yarde has also been added to the squad.
