Bath Rugby have confirmed that backs and attack coach Martin Gleeson has left the club after only one season in the role.

Gleeson joined Bath in October 2025, once Lee Blackett started work as England’s new attack coach.

While 102 tries were scored in the Prem season, matching the previous season’s return, Bath’s attack didn’t seem to fire as well under the rugby league legend, who is now looking for his next coaching gig.

The Wiganer had been linked with Harlequins, but they’ve turned to the Hurricanes’ Super Rugby-winning attack coach, Brad Cooper, to fill the boots of Nick Evans.

In his playing days, Gleeson represented both England and Great Britain in the 13-man code, as well as Wigan Warriors, Huddersfield Giants, St Helens and Salford City Reds.

He has also coached with Warrington Wolves in the Super League before switching codes and going to Wasps and England.

“I’d like to thank Johann for the opportunity this season to come to Bath and work with some amazing staff and talented players,” Gleeson said.

“It’s been a great season and I wish the club all the success in the future.”

Bath’s Head of Rugby, Johann van Graan, added: “We want to thank Gleese for the contribution he has made and we wish him the very best for his future ahead.”

Mike Prendergast has been strongly tipped as Gleeson’s successor following his departure from Munster, although former Bath star Mike Catt is also now available after being released by the Waratahs.
