Arthur Clark caps England call-up with contract extension
A day after receiving a call-up to the England squad ahead of the Guinness Six Nations, Gloucester lock Arthur Clark has signed a contract extension with the club.
The 23-year-old academy product has already made 35 appearances for the Cherry and Whites since making his debut in 2022.
The former England U20 international represented England A against Australia A last November, and has now been drafted into the senior set-up following an injury to Northampton Saints’ Alex Coles.
Clark’s director of rugby George Skivington believes the 6’7’’ lock’s national call-up is an indication of the potential he has.
“It’s hard to put into words just how much this club means to me,” Clark said.
“Since I was old enough to pick up a rugby ball, I dreamt of playing here at Kingsholm in Cherry & White and it’s an honour every time I get to do that.
“We’ve got a great group here, many that I’ve played with for a long time coming through the pathway. It’s really special to be able to do it week-in-week-out alongside my mates.”
Skivington added: “It’s great having Arthur commit his future to the club.
“Gloucester Rugby is in his blood and he has a very close group of friends around him who are all hungry to achieve.
“The fact he’s been called up to the England squad shows the potential he has and the good work that’s been done here at Gloucester to grow this young player.”
