All Blacks pile 50 on the Bulls to remain undefeated in Greatest Rivalry tour

The All Blacks have beaten the Bulls by 50-19 in Pretoria to remain undefeated on the Greatest Rivalry tour.

Outstanding performances from Anton Segner, wingers Josh Moorby and Leroy Carter and Josh Jacomb fuelled a high-tempo All Blacks team that looked the sharpest it has so far on the tour.

The All Blacks survived an early onslaught from the home side, repelling multiple mauls from the five before a statement scrum which put the Bulls pack on the floor.

After coming up inches short of the line, the Bulls were given a scrum five out which the All Blacks won a penalty against the feed.

Moments later left wing Josh Moorby stepped over in the corner for the first try of the match after a slick wide play from the backs with Leroy Carter featuring from the opposite side.

Up 5-0, a chaotic period of play followed with the All Blacks breaking out of their 22 through Rieko Ioane, only for Beauden Barrett to gift the Bulls possession right back with a wild offload that missed his support players.

The loose ball was hacked ahead by openside flanker Hanro Liebenberg who regathered his own kick after an air swing by Fabian Holland. The All Blacks were saved from the potential Bulls try by a knock-on from Willie le Roux who touched the ball during Barrett’s initial offload.

A short while later a Beauden Barrett high ball was regathered by Leroy Carter, sparking a scintillating period of attack with the All Blacks working down inside the Bulls 22. A bridge pass from Barrett found Lakai on the wing, who beat one defender and offered a well-timed pass inside to Moorby who scored his second for a 12-0 lead.

A 50-22 by Josh Jacomb gave the All Blacks an attacking platform inside the 22, from which multiple penalties flowed as the Bulls’ infringements piled up. Hooker Codie Taylor crashed over directly from the penalty tap to extend the lead to 17-0 with Jacomb missing the conversion.

Taylor scored his second right on half-time after more sustained attack on the Bulls’ line led to more points and a 24-0 lead.

The Bulls struck first in the second half from first phase through lock Ruan Vermaak. The TMO ruled that he placed the ball short but Nika Amashukeli overruled his TMO.

It didn’t take long for the All Blacks to hit back, with a powerful tackle from Anton Segner disloding the ball from the restart. Back on attack, the All Blacks powered over the Bulls before swinging it wide for Leroy Carter to score in the corner for a 29-7 advantage.

Segner had his third turnover shortly after with a strip-steal.

Rieko Ioane was next to score after a smart shimmy from Leroy Carter after a half-break from Anton Lienert-Brown. Carter broke free following Lienert-Brown’s offload before feeding the final pass back inside to Ioane.

Stravino Jacobs. The Bulls broke down the blind side off a scrum before Jacobs stepped inside Barrett to crash over in the corner.

Carter grabbed his second of the night with 12 minutes remaining running inside Josh Jacomb from a wide backs move, while Sititi scored the final try to bring up 50.

For the Bulls, No.8 Jeandre Rudolph produced three breakdown turnovers in his 60 minutes on the field.
