Alex Craig has urged Glasgow to turn the screw in their quest for United Rugby Championship glory as they prepare to host Leinster on Saturday.

The 2024 champions are top of the table as the campaign enters its decisive phase in the wake of the Six Nations.

“Obviously we’ve had a good season so far, but we need to make sure we’re not resting on our laurels and making sure we’re going out there and giving our best,” said second row Craig.

“Because, ultimately, if we don’t do that, then we’re not going to get a result. We need to put our best foot forward and take it to them.

“It’s going to be a big challenge, obviously Leinster are always there or thereabouts every season. They’ll be looking to try and come here and get a result.”

Craig is buoyed by having made his first Six Nations appearance in five years after he came on in the second half of Scotland’s defeat by Ireland in Dublin last weekend.

“As a player, you want to play at the highest level and playing in the Six Nations is obviously one of the biggest tournaments in the world,” said Craig, who won his seventh cap at the Aviva Stadium.

“It was amazing to be part of the game and the opportunity to play for Scotland is always incredible, but it was disappointing not to get a result. I loved being out there but it was just a shame about the result.”

Craig is in the frame to face Leinster but several of Glasgow’s more senior Scotland internationals are likely to be given the weekend off after their Six Nations exertions, while key forward duo Scott Cummings and Gregor Brown are facing injury lay-offs.

“Obviously they’re going to be big losses because they’re both very good players, but the guys who are still fit and available here, we need to make sure we take responsibility and put our best foot forward,” said Craig.
